These are some of the frequently asked questions. If you do not find what you are looking for, write to us here.
What is terracotta?
Terracotta, also known as earthenware, is a type of clay. It is fired to a relatively low temperature in comparison to most other clays and has a high iron content (think rust) that results in its characteristic orange color.
Why is a terracotta pot a good choice for plants?
The porous nature of the clay allows moisture to evaporate through the walls of the plant pot, helping your plant dry out between waterings.
Why do pots need drainage holes?
Plants need water, but they don’t want to spend time soaking in the tub. A drainage hole allows excess water to escape easily so the roots of your plants don’t rot.
Can I keep these pots outside?
Yes you can!
Can I Use Terracotta Pots Indoors
Yes you can. They look great anywhere in your home. All types of indoor plants can thrive in our pots as long as you take good care of the plant, using good soil, watering correctly, and sizing the pot to the plant well.
Why does my terracotta pot turn white with time?
Depending on your preference the Patina on terracotta pots is a marker of time, a stamp of use like a well worn leather shoe.
It is this unique aesthetic that draws us to a rustic italian villa: stone stairs, chipped terracotta tiles, and all in all well lived in spaces and gardens.
Terracotta will patina over time as minerals in your soil and water evaporate through the pot walls. Depending on humidity levels in your location, you may even get some moss growing over the walls of the pots too.
This patina stands as a marker of the time and cannot be replicated through any manufacturing process. It is also a real test to the quality and timelessness of terracotta pots

Why is terracotta a popular preference for plants and plant lovers?
It Is weighty.
The weight of a clay pot is a bonus when you have a taller plant that is top heavy. This makes it popular for inserting plants already grown in plastic pots that are usually not aesthetically pleasing.
It Lives On/ It is natural
A clay pot lives a long life. They are often handed down through generations, even prized possessions for some people. Eventually they will be broken; even then the shards can be used to facilitate drainage at the bottom of another pot and eventually break down into soil. From the earth they come and to the earth they return.
It Breathes, (or drains).
Terracotta pots are porous, letting water evaporate through the clay walls. If you are an attentive plant parent, who maybe prone to over-water (most of us are :), porous clay pots or clay pots with drainage will ensure the roots of your green babies remain nice and dry. This is why they are popular with succulents and cacti
