Terracotta pots come with a smooth finish and this makes it easy to paint and customize them.
Below are the steps one should follow in order to get beautiful and amazing pots.
Step 1.
Sand off any rough parts or edges of the pot using sand paper. Use a slightly wet cloth to wipe off the dust once you are done sanding.
Step 2.
You may paint your pot using a brush, roller or sponge. For best results apply a thin coat, let dry and then repeat with a second layer. Note terracotta pots are porous and therefore dry quickly after every application
Different paint types have varied drying time. Oil based paints generally take longer than water based or acrylic paint to dry.
Step 3.
After the paint is dry, customize the pot as you like by drawing, texturing, stenciling, beading etc.
NOTE: You may use a sealer over the paint for a long lasting effect or just to waterproof your pots.
